What happened?

On 10 July 2026, 1. FC Nurnberg loaned 24‑year‑old goalkeeper Michal Kukucka to Czech First‑League side FK Jablonec. The move was announced by sporting director Joti Chatzialexiou. Kukucka, a Slovak, joined Nurnberg in summer 2024 and had already spent the second half of the previous season on loan at Slovenian club FC Koper.

Why is Nurnberg sending the keeper away?

Nurnberg wants Kukucka to get regular minutes. This season he has seen little action because first‑choice keeper Niklas Stelzenmüller has started most matches. The club hopes that consistent playing time in Jablonec will speed his development and make him a stronger competitor on his return.

How does this affect squad planning?

Kukucka’s departure frees a roster spot for potential summer signings. Head coach Christian Schmidt has already indicated an intention to promote young talents from the U23 squad to the senior team. Losing Kukucka could therefore open a place for an emerging goalkeeper from the academy.

What does this mean for FK Jablonec?

Jablonec gains an experienced goalkeeper who already knows the Czech league. The club expects Kukucka to slot in quickly and shore up the defence. The loan runs until 30 June 2027, after which Jablonec can decide on a possible purchase option.

What’s next?

Kukucka is expected to travel to Jablonec in early August to join training. Nurnberg will monitor his progress through weekly reports. If he performs well, he could return next summer or make a permanent move to the Czech league.
