Nurnberg has signed a new player to compensate for the departure of captain Fabio Gruber. The 21-year-old Greek center-back Alexios Kalogeropoulos joins 1. FC Nurnberg on a free transfer from Olympiakos Piraeus. Standing at 1.87 meters, Kalogeropoulos has made 17 appearances for Olympiakos's first team but is also the captain of the Greece U21 national team. This transfer comes at a crucial time as Nurnberg prepares for the upcoming season in the 2. Bundesliga. Joti Chatzialexiou, a board member of Nurnberg, spoke positively about the new signing: "We have been watching Alexios for a little while. He is still a young, developmental center-back, but has convinced us through his header and duel strength as well as his calm on the ball." Kalogeropoulos himself is looking forward to his time at Nurnberg and emphasizes that the club provides a good platform for the development of young players. He is excited about his first experiences abroad and the opportunity to prove himself in a new league.
